First of all when it is visa information it is just that!
Please see answers below
Hi Friends,
I am in the process of filling I-485 form and got the following question, can you please help?
My stamped visa expired 1 year back and I am currently with H1B approval notice. In the 2nd page of I-485 form, under Part 3. Processing Information, I am wondering what I need to fill for the following columns.
1. Nonimmigrant visa number: Is this the EAC number of my current I797 or the visa number from my expired visa?. If it is from the expired visa, there are multiple numbers in the visa stamp, which one is the visa number?
------> The figures in red, not the control number on your
visa stamp.
2.Consulate where visa was issued: Is it the name of the consulate issued my last visa or Department?
------> If it was issued at a consulate state that, if
department mention department.
3.Date visa isssued: Is this is the date of last visa issued or the approval date of my current I797
-----> Again the one on your visa stamp.
Thanks advance for all your valuable suggestions.

Hi Smitha,
I hope you will try to be a silent visitor of this website again with all the blessings you got. Please dont assume that all the people on here have to think that India is their home country and India is great!!!...What about people from other countries...Please try to think in a broad perspective....the2005/2006/2007 analysis is wrong too....giving your 2 cents back...thanks but no thanks..

Hello all
I am a silent visitor of this website.
Just my 2 cents... Don't think USA is like India where you can do something forcefully. Why don't you guys understand the real problem of USCIS.
Do you think that by sending flower to USCIS will force them to make EB2/EB3 current for 2005/2006/2007 guys??
Please try to understand their problem.
Also India is the great. Why don't you guys just think that India is your home country where you are born and brought up. Why you people can't just wait and watch?? If nothing happens to the so called GC, then why don't you think to pack up and go back to India???????
My sincere request, please don't do rally, you might be arrested......you never know what they can do..... Don't you think that, it is better to go back to India rather than being embarrassed here in US???
Isn't it a shame on us to go for Rally to get GC?????:D
Just think that you will get it when time comes, otherwise pack up.
Please don't take much tension as life is very short. I am assuring you all, nothing will happen with law suit and flower campaign.Don't irritate USCIS by doing all this please.

did you get yours without CPO mail ? My case is same. No CPO, though got approval/decision emails and approval snail mail.
I got the CPO email first. In another days 6 days got welcome mail. Then the status changed back to post decision activity. 5 days from there, I got the cards. Even today the status says the same.

AMY GOODMAN: Let me ask you about national sovereignty
LOU DOBBS: Sure.
AMY GOODMAN: in a moment. But first, I want to turn to an excerpt of your show from August 22nd.
LOU DOBBS: This year?
AMY GOODMAN: This year.
LOU DOBBS: All right!
LOU DOBBS: Just one day after President Bush signed legislation here in Washington to build a border fence, the government of Mexico is threatening the sovereignty and national security of the United States. President Vicente Fox and President-Elect Felipe Calderon are both asserting that the United States has no right to build such a fence along our southern border. At the same time, the White House and its allies in corporate America appear determined to create a new North American Union, incorporating Canada, Mexico and the United States. Such a union would, in effect, create a giant nation.
AMY GOODMAN: Lou Dobbs, August 22, 2007.
LOU DOBBS: Sure.
AMY GOODMAN: Juan?
JUAN GONZALEZ: Well, this concept of a giant nation, could you expand on it?
LOU DOBBS: The North American Union?
JUAN GONZALEZ: Yes.
LOU DOBBS: Well, coming from the 2005 meeting with Stephen Harper, the prime minister of Canada, Vicente Fox, then the president of Mexico, and George W. BushIm sure youre still delighted to know hes president of the United Statesmet and laid out the foundation through the Security and Prosperity Partnership. What has ensued since then, there have been a number of high-level meetingsmilitary, business, and governmental leadersall of which had been closed to the press and all toward harmonizing, if you will, relations between the two and diminishing the border and the encumbrances to commerce moving straight ahead.
AMY GOODMAN: Just to be clear, it could have been 2006, that report, so I want to be factually accurate. It was either this year or last year.
LOU DOBBS: Well, I forgive you, no matter what it was.
LOU DOBBS: Sure.

I read on the murthy.com website that the UCSIS needs to go through the Kentucky Consular Center to obtain the PIMS verification. The number for the KCC is 606-526-7500. I am going to try and call them to see if they can give me any information on timelines.
For those people that have not left the US yet, it might be worth it to talk to your lawyers and see if there is any way you can have your names added to this database before you travel - that should eliminate any hassles once you leave the country. Much easier to try and do it from there rather than from here.
There is no number to call here to check on status - I have been sending emails to mumbaiNIV@state.gov but have not received any response from them yet. Not really a surprise. If anyone tries the number above and gets some response please let the rest of us know.
Just curious if public can call this consular center?

Hi all
I request some help on how to proceed and what is required for self filing 485 for child born in India. We have already filed 485 3 yrs ago and awaiting Approval( delayed due to retrogression). Now since the dates have become current we would like to add our child who was born in India and currently living with us here ( we are still maintaining H1 and H4 status valid). I wanted to find out what documents and letter( to build the case) is required for adding our child to the application. Also would like to find out if we need to attach our child to existing application(mother or father) or file is seperately. Anybody please advise
thanks

I am a multiple filer too, my I-485 application filed in early June was approved last week. I hope this gives some reason for optimism for us multiple filers. Good luck to everyone. BTW: I am still a contributing member and will continue to hang out at IV.
congratulations! So you had the second I-485 still pending when teh first one got approved? Did you get any RFE about it from USCIS or were you asked to withdraw one of the petitions?

I am sure you must have thought a lot before the 'foreclosure' came into your mind. Here is an advice. If there is not too much that you will have to put out from your own pocket, then it is better to take the hit and move on.
If you do foreclose, it might not be the best for credit history as well as in some random cases, job search. Jobs usually do a background check and that includes credit check in some cases as well. I hope it has no bearing but in some cases can. I don't think it will have any impact on your GC. Even if you don't have plans to buy a house, there are far more things that can impact. None of us want to live on credit but in US it is almost a necessary evil. Car, credit cards and the other nine yards that come with it also become scarce for the next few years. So, tread carefully.
Have you discussed with your bank? Foreclosure is a huge hit for the bank and they may be able to work with you on what you owe.
All the best.
Why do you have to live on credit?....you can go cash rich!!

So basically he is saying that count your blessings and thank god that you are stuck in Backlog centers or in retrogression because in Europe, its even worse. Its a nice way of saying : "It is what it is, take it or go to Europe or go back to India".
Right?
Does he know that the USCIS does not even have a clue on how many potential applicants it would expect if it moved PD forward by a certain period? Backlog centers are 20 years behind schedule already? People cant get drivers license in Pennsylvania coz they get only 1 year extensions on H1 due to labor backlog and their wives are driving them to work? Does he know that there is a name-check process that FBI sometimes takes forever which is not only hurting Greencard applicants, its also not a smart thing from security and public safety perspective to sit on someone's name check process while that someone is living and working on work-permit(EAD)? Does he know that the whole greencard process, being employer centric prevents people from switching jobs, getting promotions etc for 6-7 years? Does he know that Australia gives Greencard to all advanced degree holders in few months time who have 2 years masters from Australian university(accredited CRICOS universities) and allows students to work off-campus when they are on student visas?
Right?

My experience with British Airways back in 2004 was actually quite good. My flight to Delhi was delayed by 12 hours. I approached a BA agent, and he helped me get a 24 hr UK visa to leave the airport, a hotel room at the airport, and meal coupons. I was traveling on Indian passport with a valid unexpired H1B visa stamp (the agent did tell me that he was able to do all this for me since I had an unexpired US visa).
I was in a similar situation in 2003 travelling with Air France, and they refused to extend any help whatsover. I didn't have an unexpired US visa in my passport at that time. I have heard from others who've had good experiences with Air France.
I guess one's experience with an airline completely depends on the prevailing circumstances, the specific service agents, and one's own level of patience and tolerance. Its hard to characterize any one airline as particularly good or particularly bad.
However, having an unexpired US visa in one's passport definitely puts one is a better position to negotiate in difficult circumstances. I guess the prevailing opinion among several of these European transit countries is that if you have a valid unexpired US visa, you are less likely to cause trouble or seek asylum in their country.

Guys why dont you get it???:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
EB1 is the most imp for US, followed by EB2, followed by EB3?
Why should USCIS follow the approach of oldest priority first? without any regards to the EB categories?
EB categories were created for a reason, doesn't matter how smart you are. If you are in lower skill category your wait is bound to be more. I don't see anything wrong in that.
If EB1 is current and EB2 takes 4-5 years you can't just start crying. Similarly if EB2 takes 2 years and Eb3 takes 7-8 years you can't panic. Stop being a cry baby and start respecting the inter EB level priority.
